The Silver Golf for Biodiversity label awarded to the Grande Bastide Golf Club
Golf de la Grande Bastide, located in the Grasse hinterland in the heart of the Côte d’Azur, recently received the Silver Label in the Golf for Biodiversity programme, awarded by the French Golf Federation under the aegis of the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle. This distinction rewards our commitment to biodiversity, through concrete actions taken in the field to better understand, protect and enhance the site’s natural heritage.
From preserving remarkable trees to working with local players and public institutions, and including the introduction of late mowing zones, Golf de la Grande Bastide takes action on a daily basis to maintain the ecological balance.
Measures taken to preserve biodiversity at the Grande Bastide Golf Club

Conservation of ancient trees
One of the measures implemented at the Golf de la Grande Bastide is the identification and preservation of remarkable trees that can provide shelter for many species and encourage the ageing of deciduous trees.
Setting up late mowing areas
One of the other initiatives undertaken at Golf de la Grande Bastide is the introduction of late-mowing zones. These areas, deliberately left unmown for several weeks, allow the local flora to develop fully and provide a natural refuge for many insects, birds and small mammals, thus actively contributing to the preservation of biodiversity.

Preserving flora and fauna
Another important point in this action plan is the protection of emblematic species in order to maintain their development and the balance of ecosystems.
We deliberately placed piles of wood along some of our route to create natural refuges for insects.
Like insect hotels on the scale of the site, these installations promote biodiversity by providing shelter, food and breeding areas for many species that are useful to the ecosystem.

Setting up events and communication tools to raise public awareness
Concrete actions supported by regular communication:
- Organisation of Biodiversity Day with 40 children from the Opio leisure centre
- Publication of an article on the website about birdlife, ecological practices and mulching
- Active presence on Facebook and Instagram, with regular posts
- Monthly newsletters with educational content
